2. OOC and IC Interactions

Maintaining a clear distinction between Out of Character (OOC) and In-Character (IC) interactions is essential for a seamless roleplay experience:

  • In-Character Requirement: Players must remain in character at all times. OOC discussions should be avoided unless necessary and should be conducted through appropriate channels (e.g., OOC chat or Discord).
  • Prohibited Actions: Any roleplay involving rape, forced sexual acts, or any form of forced roleplay is strictly forbidden. Erotic Roleplay (ERP) is also prohibited on the server (It's not funny, it's not cute, just don't do it.).
  • Character Death: Players have the autonomy to permanently kill (perma-kill) their own characters if it fits within their roleplay storyline. However, players cannot force the perma-kill of another player's character.
  • Memory Rules: If your character is kicked out of a gang or organization and is "ocean dumped" (a form of in-game execution), you must forget all information related to that gang or organization.
  • Communication Between Characters: Players are not allowed to have their own characters (e.g., "cousins") interact with each other, as this is considered meta gaming.
  • Dead Communication: Once your character is "flat-backed" (dead), you cannot communicate via voice chat or any other means. When downed, you may roleplay your injuries but must avoid any OOC references. THIS WILL BE STRICTLY ENFORCED!!!

3. Meta Gaming

Meta gaming is the act of using OOC information to gain an unfair advantage in the game. This behavior is strictly prohibited as it disrupts the integrity of roleplay:

  • Definition: Meta gaming involves using information obtained from outside the game (e.g., streams, Discord conversations) to influence in-game actions.
  • Examples of Meta Gaming:
  • Utilizing information from live streams or Discord chats to make in-game decisions.
  • Discussing OOC knowledge in IC conversations.
  • Communicating with other players via third-party applications (e.g., Discord calls) during in-game scenarios.
  • Sharing information between your own characters across different storylines. Disciplinary Action: If caught meta gaming, you will face a suspension ranging from 24 to 72 hours, depending on the severity of the offense.

4. Power Gaming

Power gaming involves exploiting in-game mechanics or forcing scenarios that give you an unfair advantage over other players. This behavior is also prohibited:

  • Definition: Power gaming is the act of manipulating game mechanics or creating unrealistic scenarios to benefit yourself or disadvantage others.
  • Examples of Power Gaming:
  • Leaving another player cuffed and alive without any further roleplay interaction.
  • Using your phone or radio while your character is handcuffed or restrained.
  • Fleeing to your house or apartment to avoid the consequences of an active roleplay scene.
  • Using emotes or other in-game actions to gain an advantage during combat situations.
  • Initiating a shootout without proper verbal roleplay or warning.
  • Exploiting any server mechanics or using third-party cheats to gain an unfair advantage.
  • When Airbag deploys the car is done.waiting for the airbags to go away to take off will be considered power gaming. (If the car is barely hitting something deploying the airbags MAKE A TICKET!!)

5. New Life Rule (NLR)

The New Life Rule (NLR) governs what your character can remember and how they must behave after being revived or "going to the light":

  • Memory After Revival: If your character is revived, they may remember events leading up to their down but not out (as long as the player wasn't flat back), but not in full detail. After revival, you must leave the area where you were downed to avoid interfering with ongoing scenes.
  • Light RP: Your character cannot "go to the light" (i.e., choose to die) if Emergency Medical Services (EMS) are on the scene or if you are being transported to the hospital. If you do "go to the light," you may not return to the scene where you died.
  • Running After Revival: If your character is revived by EMS and has been sedated, they cannot immediately run or engage in strenuous activities.
  • PD New Life Rule:
  • PD will NOT have a new life rule. Meaning, if PD has a body camera on, they can pull the video off of their body cameras back at the PD station after being revived. This is to help combat people just randomly killing cops.
  • Cops will only be allowed to go off what they have on video. Meaning, if your car and tag are seen on video, a warrant WILL be issued for you for questioning.
  • EMS Memory Restrictions: EMS personnel are prohibited from reminding or informing players about events that occurred during a scene in which they were incapacitated.

6. Combat Logging

Combat logging refers to the act of disconnecting from the server during an active roleplay scene. This behavior is disruptive and unfair to other players:

  • Prohibited Action: Players must not disconnect from the server during an active roleplay scene until the scene has fully concluded. Disconnecting prematurely is considered combat logging.
  • Technical Issues: If you experience technical issues that cause you to disconnect, you must report them immediately via a ticket and provide video evidence if possible.
  • Disciplinary Action: Combat logging will result in a mandatory 48-hour suspension from the city to ensure that roleplay remains fair and uninterrupted.

7. Gun Fear

Gun fear is the concept that your character should value their life, especially when confronted with a deadly weapon:

  • Valuing Life: Your character must act realistically in situations involving firearms or other life-threatening scenarios. This means showing fear and complying with demands when a weapon is pointed at you.
  • Gun Fear Situations:
  • Gun fear applies when a gun is directly pointed at your character.
  • If outnumbered and facing armed individuals, your character must comply with their demands.
  • Hostages must be taken with a gun physically pointed at them to ensure they understand the threat.

11. Vehicle Regulations

Vehicles play a significant role in Take One RP, and their use must adhere to the following regulations:

  • Realistic Driving: Players are expected to drive vehicles realistically. Reckless driving, including speeding in populated areas or intentionally causing accidents, is prohibited unless it serves a specific roleplay purpose. If your car has a bad accident, you ARE expected to play as if the car is done for. Your car will not flip 15 times and still be able to drive. Any type of roll over, head on collision, or any other type of collision that can render your vehicle impaired, you are expected to follow these rules.
  • Vehicle Modifications: Modifying vehicles to achieve unrealistic performance or appearances is prohibited. This includes excessive lowering, increasing speed beyond realistic limits, or using non-lore friendly modifications.
  • Emergency Vehicle Use: Unauthorized use of emergency vehicles (e.g., police cars, ambulances) is prohibited. Only designated personnel are allowed to operate these vehicles during active roleplay scenarios.

12. Green Zones

Green Zones are designated safe areas where violence, crime, and hostile roleplay are prohibited:

  • Locations:

  • FIRE/EMS Stations and Hospitals

  • Legion Parking Garage

  • Green Zone Rules:

  • No weapons should be drawn or used in Green Zones.

  • Criminal activities, including robberies and assaults, are strictly prohibited in Green Zones.

  • Players cannot be chased into a Green Zone to avoid combat or roleplay consequences.

  • Any roleplay that begins outside a Green Zone must remain outside; it cannot be brought into a Green Zone to avoid the situation.

13. Red Zones

Red Zones are areas designated for hostile and violent roleplay, including combat and criminal activities:

  • Location: Red Zones will be marked on the map and are typically locations where gang activity or high-risk roleplay occurs.
  • Red Zone Rules:
  • Players entering a Red Zone should expect to encounter hostile roleplay, including potential combat.
  • Police and EMS services may be limited or unavailable in Red Zones.
  • Players should exercise caution and be prepared for intense roleplay scenarios when entering these areas.

15. Tsunami (Storm) Rules

Tsunamis, or server resets, occur periodically to refresh the game world. Specific rules apply during these times:

  • Roleplay Continuity: Roleplay must conclude before a tsunami or be paused and resumed after the restart.
  • Avoiding Exploits: Players should avoid exploiting the tsunami to evade consequences or respawn vehicles/items. Players shall not commit any type of crime 10 minutes prior to tsunami's.
  • Safe Zone: In the final minutes before a tsunami, players should head to safe zones to avoid losing progress or roleplay continuity.
